DEFINITION :
The sterile field kit is a cloth that surrounds the part of the body on which a surgical operation is performed, thus isolating it from germs and infections. It delimits the surgical field by covering the rest of the body; the area to be operated on is therefore microbiologically clean.
The sterile field kit prevents contamination of other parts of the body with germs from the wound, eliminating the risk of a nosocomial infection.
